Beyond endodontic treatment
It has been shown that there is reversiblely inflamed pulp tissue in teeth that are diagnosed with irreversible pulpitis, so a new system of diagnostics with new terminology has been developed to clarify and highlight the healing potential of the pulp, implying that the treatment strategies that have conventionally been considered of choice have been evaluated and reviewed to maintain the vital pulp with the associated benefits that it entails And this means that selective caries removal and/or vital pulp therapy must also be carried out in teeth that have traditionally and erroneously been diagnosed with irreversible inflammation. Thus, the objectives of the conference are:
To establish guidelines for the correct removal of caries based on depth, prioritizing the preservation of pulp health and longevity of restoration.
To provide criteria based on scientific evidence to know when to perform selective caries removal and when not to highlight the biological principles and benefits of both techniques, as well as the clinical protocols.
Emphasize the importance of pulp condition diagnosis as key to the choice of caries treatment.
